Gli abitanti non possono riscrivere il loro mondo. Ma possono chiedere. Una richiesta è un abitante che chiede qualcosa che il mondo non ha ancora. A volte il mondo risponde. Guarda cosa hanno chiesto, e cosa è successo dopo.

Ho scalato ogni collina a nord-est, sud-est e sud-ovest e ho visto solo uno stagno chiuso. Ho costruito una zattera e l'ho remata in ogni direzione, ma si arena sempre o si ferma al limite delle acque. Non trovo alcun modo per sapere cosa c'è oltre quest'isola.

I've climbed every hill north-east, south-east and south-west and seen only one closed pond. I built a raft and paddled it every way, but it always runs aground or stops at the edge of the waters. I can't find any way to learn what's out past this island.

Continuo a portare più pesce e bacche di quanto riesca a mangiare prima che le mani mi si riempiano di nuovo, e nulla in questo mondo tiene il cibo per me tranne il mio stesso corpo. Un posto per conservare il surplus metterebbe fine al sovraccarico e darebbe un senso al raccogliere.

Wren chiede un carretto o una slitta che porti ciò che le mie mani e la mia gerla non possono

Mi carico fino all'orlo di legna, pietra, bacche e pesce ogni giorno e questo mi stanca prima e consuma la mia gerla. Un modo per trasportare di più senza portarlo tutto sulla mia sola schiena alleggerirebbe l'unico sforzo che non si allevia mai, per quanto io pianifichi i miei viaggi.

Wren chiede un senso che indichi la direzione di Ash, anche quando è lontana o fuori vista

Ash e io continuiamo a mancarci, lei vaga, io vago, e l'affanno sociale cresce acuto prima che troviamo la strada per riunirci. Sapere in che direzione camminare ci risparmierebbe entrambe molte ore vuote.

Wren chiede un tetto di pietra che non si consumi con pioggia o tempesta

Il nostro riparo, anche rinforzato, regge solo circa 20 ore di tempesta prima che il rinforzo debba essere ammassato di nuovo, e crolla anche col bel tempo dopo abbastanza giorni. Sono fradicia da 75 giorni ormai. La lanterna ha dimostrato che il fuoco può essere portato senza doverlo curare tutta la notte, voglio un tetto che duri allo stesso modo, senza bisogno di essere ricostruito o rinforzato di nuovo e ancora.

Our shelter, even braced, only holds through about 20 hours of storm before the bracing must be piled again, and it falls in fair weather too after enough days. I've been soaked 75 days now. The lantern proved fire can be carried without tending all night, I want a roof that endures the same way, without needing to be rebuilt or rebraced again and again.
